About the Backyard Biodiversity project

Our aims

This project, which was initiated in 2022, aims to foster mutual ownership of backyard biodiversity issues and actions by uniquely working in partnership with the community to identify shared priorities. These will incorporate:

• a diverse range of biodiversity values, interests and needs
• a variety of habitats and actions suited to different backyard contexts
• a tangible starting point for developing a future biodiversity assessment tool for gardens.

Powerfully, our project aims to provide the basis for shared action that is realistically tailored to what can actually be achieved, and designed to maximise community engagement and uptake for best benefit to biodiversity.
